Annie - Can you give me any suggestions for a funkier and/or more contemporary exterior stain color for my new modern house? This color has faded a bit in the past two years from southern exposure.

Dear Susan: I would love to see your house a medium - not Cape-Cod light - grey. Too dark and you'll lose the distinction between the wood and the windows. (Unless that's the look you're going for.)
As for execution, though, I have to put this question out to the blogosphere; what I know about exterior stain you could fit onto a hair of a paintbrush.
Anyone? Anyone? Save this gorgeous house from impending mediocrity! (Oh, it's not that bad...) Maybe the dynamic Young House Love duo can save the day...
