By looking at this modular bed design concept designed by Swedish designer Marcia Hanvey Isaksson, I can say that a bed like this should exist in every hotel. The design is basically a double bed that lets you instantly split it into two single beds without having to spend your back for it. Each single bed is attached at the head with a rail in the headboard, so if you want a double bed for you an your partnet or to have more space in your bed just slide the beds apart. Since the headboard also features storage space, this modular bed becomes just the perfect bit of furniture for the kids’ room or even for the guests

When I saw these pictures for the first time I’ve immediately thought at the amazing 3D chalk drawings done by Julian Beever ( see his works here ). What you can see in these pictures is a brilliant new take on house decoration, and I’m sure that that my readers would want to admire these pictures. This guy does an amazing job, but unfortunately the work of this one mystery man has been floating all around the internet for some time now, but does anyone know his name, or something about him. Finally I would like to ask you to post a comment if you know who is the author of these amazing 3 dimensional wall paintings, because he should be getting some commissions.

Sculptural furniture with its shapely forms can become voluptuous additions to your decor. The full-bodied approach to such furniture can best be seen by the work of John-Paul Melia and Lucy Tatam, who are the designers behind MeliaDesignUK. They work primarily from man-made boards and a range of real wood veneers, some of which are new and exotic. Each handmade design is finished with either a luxurious high-gloss polished lacquer or with a semi-matte laminate. The i.drawers sideboard or chest of drawers suits contemporary living spaces. Its three runnerless drawers glide out with the help of chromed air vents at the back of each drawer which release the vacuum. Colour choices are offered for this $5,995 sideboard.

Ouch. With oil selling at record prices, filling up our cars at the pump really hurts our wallets these days. Global demand, especially from rapidly growing economies like China and India, is far outstripping our capacity to produce enough oil. So it makes more and more sense to curb our dependence on crude. Perhaps a good way to remind us to change our oil guzzling lifestyle is this gold tone oil can tea set made by Designcommando (Germany). The designers called their creation Beautifuel Life because “We all have a beautiful life that is given to us by oil and fuel.”

Designed by Aykut Erol the Line Furniture System is a metal wire system made with a single stroke or line. This system has everything from a lamp, to coat hook, to shelving, to TV set, to even a wine and CD racks! The most important characteristic of “Line” is it being a no-break line. Theoretically, the system extends infinitely with a single line regenerating itself. As a final word, the design is simple, and very creative, but the whole concept is not to practical unfortunately.

If you would like to brighten up and inject some life into a dull room, then you should check this beautiful idea. SkyCeilings are photographic illusions of real skies that fit into standard ceiling grid systems. SkyCeilings faux skylights now include programmable lighting which can be used to emulate the intensity and color changes that come with a rising and setting sun. Luminous SkyCeilings feature fluorescent or LED lighting that illuminate the translucent images from behind. Ambient SkyCeilings are made from opaque image tiles that are lit by room or cove lighting. So if you want an amazing view when you wake up in the morning ….just imagine how would you start the day with such a view ( meanwhile I’ve found an amazing view that everyone must see, check out this image )

In Darmstadt, Germany, The Alice-Hospital vom Roten Kreuz has commissioned Angela Fritsch Architekten to build a pavilion in the park in front of their main building, and the final result is a really creative design. The pavilion was constructed using a conventional system of prefabricated containers. In order to integrate it into the park, the surface finish of the facade is committed to adhering sheeting system patented by Hannes Freising from architectural facade firm Huellwerk. This ZGG pavilion (Zentrum Ganzheitlicher Gesundheit) was to consist of a cheap container box with a wallpaper made out of sheet metal. This golden cover has ornamental leaves cut out of it, making it a shiny and decorative structure in the hospital’s park.

If you want something really unique in your bathroom then you should take a look at the Ammonite washbasin from HighTech that is shaped as a fossil. This unique design showcases the organic qualities of concrete. The washbasin can be produced in widths between 90 cm and 330 cm with a standard depth of 56 cm, and is available in several colors. It can be installed either with a table-mounted or wall-mounted tap. Now the design might be unique and cool, but if you would like to wash something it will be quite hard, and the cleaning part will also be a challenge.

Earth houses is a project designed by Peter Vetsch and are based on the interpretation of an environmentally conscious, ecological and progressive architecture. The pictures from this post are with a house named Earth House Estate Lättenstrasse, that is located in Dietikon, Switzerland. Compared to traditional residential houses built on the ground, the aim of building an earth house is another: Not to live under or in the ground, but with it. The earth-house concept uses the ground as an insulating blanket that efficiently protects it from rain, low temperatures, wind and natural abrasion. An earth house does not have to be built under the ground, it can be placed onto naturally grown terrain.

If you are looking for a comfortable armchair, but you also care about the design, and of course you’re a sports fan then here it is a piece of decor that reflects the spirit of sport. These two pieces especially designed for football and basketball fans are my favorites and they are part of the collection of sports enterprise VIP Seating. Each piece is made entirely by hand in genuine leather or synthetic leather and can be mounted on two legs or on a pedestal, which can be black or chrome.

This complex was constructed as a low-income residence for young families and couples in the industrial district of Izola on the Slovenian coast. The project is simply called “Apartments on the coast” and it was designed by OFIS ( we presented another project made by them in this post – Tetris Apartments ). The striking development boasts beautiful views and makes smart use of solar shading and natural ventilation to regulate its interiors all year-round. Designed to mimic the rhythmic structure of honeycomb, the layout creates “dynamic elevations and offers privacy to the neighboring owners.” We’re also impressed by the collaborative effort behind the project which at its core was comprised of a 9-person design team including Rok Oman, Špela Videčnik, Martina Lipicer, Neža Oman, Nejc Batistič, Florian Frey, Marisa Baptista, and špela uršič.

In a minimalist style, without neglecting the comfort, the Sofa Bend is the latest creation of Stéphane Perruchon. What strikes at first glance it is the contrast between the fine structure formed by a sheet of metal folded and the cushions soft and colorful. Indeed this sofa is composed of a single sheet of metal, that once is bent and lacquer in the desired color, it remains only to add cushions together.

Designed by Kenneth Cobonpue the Wave Table is a hand made piece of furniture. Hand-finished walnut or mahogany wood pieces are attached together in a graceful and rhythmic pattern to create sculptural tables that seemingly float on the ground.

In these days some architects can create amazing buildings, and to give an example here it is a building named Shiro, that is a hair salon in Fukui,Japan, made by architects 1980/Takuya Hosokai + Hiromasa Mori. The design is simple, and with a very eye-catching look. Great outlines, unusual angles with a little tension, and ’sharp’ is sure to add meaning to their hair dressing services! This building was finished in 2006 as the designers say, and I hope that today is not to dirty, because that white look can be destroyed very quickly but the level of pollution in these days.

This modern home by Paul Cha Architect called the C-I House is a 2,000-sq.-ft. getaway from the endless go of city life, located at about two-hour drive north of New York City. The outside design is a simple “box” with a concrete and wood facade. The first floor’s service area consists of a storage closet, powder room and kitchen making function easily accessible – while not too far off is a luxurious living room and dining room encased in floor-to-ceiling glass with panoramic views opening onto the sun deck. A two-storey atrium joins the main floor with the private second floor, where a guest bath, master bath and master closet make up the upper service area. In conclusion this simple modern home is a great place where you can come and relax in weekends, especially if you want to escape from the New York City agitation.
